Sex Toy Cleaning

Cleaning Sex Toys

Cleaning sex toys soon after use is probably more important than most people realize. It's generally a simple process for the well being of you and your toys. Most bacteria cannot live on your sex toys for an extended time, but some can, and these are the reasons they need to be cleaned soon after use. STDs can be transmitted by sex toys, so if you share with a friend, using a condom makes sense. Make it a common practice to clean your toys before and after each use, warm water and an antibacterial soap is a preferred method. Each manufacture has its own recommendations and they should be followed. There are commercial cleaners available in most sex toy shops. Different materials such as silicone, Cyberskin, glass and rubber have their do's and don'ts, it takes very little effort to keep your sex toys in good shape. Listed below are the most popular materials used in sex toy manufacturing. cyberskin fantasy cock lavender image

Cyberskin - Futurotic - UR3

Modern technology has allowed manufactures to create sex toys that have a very lifelike touch. Cyberskin is one of these materials with an amazing realistic feel. The downside is that they are very porous and cannot be disinfected. You could use a condom to minimize the clean up, I know this takes away some of the realistic feeling that these toys have. There is an alternative, you can stay safe using any type sex toy by simply not sharing it with any one and by not using the same toy for anal and vaginal sex. Clean your Cyberskin type sex toys using warm water and an antibacterial soap, do not use anything harsh like dishwashing soap. After your Cyberskin sex toy is completely dry, wrap each toy in a separate cloth to prevent dust or any unwanted particles from settling on them while in storage. Never store sex toys made from different materials touching each other, this can cause damage to your prize toys.

Glass Sex Toys

We're all familiar with the name Pyrex, did you know that there are sex toys made from this durable product. They don't have a lifelike feel but many enjoy the smooth sensations that comes with using glass sex toys. If there's any concerns about hygiene, these glass toys can be boiled in water a few minutes to eliminate any possibility of lingering bacteria. An alternative cleaning method is to wipe it down with alcohol. I know there are those that have concerns about it breaking while these sex toys are in use, well quit worrying. Your vagina or anus could never apply enough pressure for breakage. If the sex toy should be dropped, a through inspection for nicks and cracks would be in order.

Jelly Rubber Sex Toys

Jelly rubber sex toys are one of the most popular and widely used, they have a very pleasurable feel and are inexpensive. For many of us the low price has allowed the purchase of numerous sex toys so we could determine the size, type and style we most prefer. As with most products, there’s a downside as well, they are very porous and this makes them impossible to sterilize. Many of them also have a chemical smell although it tends to diminish over a period of time. Using a condom is a good idea with jelly sex toys, certainly if you share with a friend or use the same toy for anal and vaginal penetration. Use warm water and an antibacterial soap to clean your jelly toys, let dry and wrap each toy separately. Never store any of your toys touching each other, different materials can cause a reaction and damage your pleasure giving sex toys. A little effort is all it takes to keep them ready for your next outing.

Silcone Sex Toys

Probably the sex toys with the highest overall rankings would be made from silicone. These toys are hygienically superior to most others, they are non porous, meaning there are no places for bacteria to hide. A big plus is that they can be boiled in water for a few minutes to alleviate any bacteria fears you may have. The downside, they are a bit more expensive and there's not an enormous selection. However, these sex toys have a very smooth sensuous feel to them and their longevity is unmatched in rubber sex toys. If the budget is not a big concern, silicone sex toys are the preferred material by many users. One word of caution, do not use a silicone lubricant with silicone toys as it will damage the surface. Water based lubes are recommended.

Lubricants

There are thousands of lubricants available, thin, thick, creamy, jells, scented, flavored, etc, most of them are water based, oils or silicone. My favorite by far is water based lubricants, it is compatible with all my sex toys and readily available. The oil base lube can be very messy, a few drops on your sheets or clothing means more laundry, however the most negative thing in my opinion is that it doesn't flush easily from my wife's vagina. It can linger inside and cause infections. Cleaning sex toys that have oil on them is much more difficult, be sure to read the cleaning instructions that came with your toy as oil will damage some types. Silicone lubes provide the smoothest and are the slickest of all, they work well while enjoying sex in water. It is also difficult to flush from vaginas and should not be used on silicone toys as damage may occur. My favorite is Astro Glide and the old reliable KY. There are a multitude of sex toys and accessories available that will bring you a great deal of pleasure, why not take advantage of anything that will enhance our sexual satisfaction. Lube up and enjoy. If you're not sure which toy you want, see our Sex Toy Guide

All of us have a different thought process, but I don’t understand why it is that so many people think that sex toys are meant just for those who are not happy with their sex life. Nothing could be farther from the truth. There are countless women who have a wonderful sexual relationship but still love their sex toys. Sometimes men just don’t’ seem to have a realistic idea about women’s use of sex toys. Some of us may keep our toys hidden and not want to reveal to our partner that we enjoy them for fear of them thinking we might be unsatisfied. This is where communication among each other is so important, although I know that is hard sometimes. It really can make for a happier and more satisfying sexual relationship. Men love to use sex toys as well. It’s for sure that both men and women masturbate and sex toys such as dildos and vibrators can play a big part in solo sex for us women. Our stimulation methods are different than those of men who concentrate mostly on their manhood. We have more erogenous zones to stimulate such as the clitoris, vagina, especially the G-spot, and we know just how to play with our nipples to get that exciting feel. I do think that clitoral orgasms is more easily achieved by our own stimulations. Sometimes it’s hard to convey to our partner what we really like and dislike in bed. I have many sex toys but I wouldn’t take for my collection of dildos. I have several friends who are not in serious sexual relationships and they love their vibrators and dildos along with other sex toys. If you are just starting to consider a sex toy and are overwhelmed at all there are available just ask yourself, what do I want it to do for me. Maybe you are just curious about them and you would like to try new things. I might give you a hint. Don’t do like I did with my first toy, that just happened to be a dildo (my favorites) and get one that is too big. Stay with the ones that are smaller at least human size then work up to the biggies. Another bit of advice that I learned quickly is lubrication for your toys. You will find quickly that they are a must for the smooth sensual feel you want to enjoy. Lubricants that are water-based are safe for most all sex toys. I’ve often wondered why men have a tendency to think that women are crazy about dildos and want the really huge size. To be honest, most women give their preference to a female vibrator since they usually use if for external stimulation. There are so many great ones on the market including the rabbit, G-spot and clit, all meant to give us the best possible stimulation. My sex toy chest has a wide variety and I love them all. Take a bit more advice from an old hand and that is to clean your sex toy very will after each and every use. Bacterial infections are not fun.
